A Woman Can Never Have Too Much Jewelry
Published on 01/23/12 11:00AM by Mari PorcariFirst, a Happy New Year to all of you. May it be one of good health and prosperity for us all!
No woman can have too much jewelry, and this past holiday season helped remind us of this truth. In our last post, we mentioned the She Be line, Ann Spence's collection of lapis, rose quartz, jasper and arenturine necklaces. We moved a number of those pieces in last minute holiday shopping, but we have a wider variety of jewelry for virtually any need.
We carry strong lines of jewelry for many tastes, pieces that range from everyday casual to contemprorary formal. Perhaps your tastes run to minimalist elegance and playful sophistication - - and if so, Priya Himatsingka's line will suit yours. Charming in an old-fashioned way, yet unmistakenly modern, Himatsingka's pieces are light in weight, primarily done with silver and high-karat gold, and you can see some of her silver jewelry on our site here.
We also dispatched our newsletter to all of our followers, announcing a spectacular winter sale - just in time for the New Year! All items in the store are 20% off - except for consignment items and selected jewelry. And, take an extra 20% off already marked down items.
Something about Brooklyn! Layla, Lucky Fish and Kit + Lili.
Published on 01/23/12 11:00AM by Mari Porcari
The stars must have been perfectly aligned last week for Weekend to receive three of my favorite lines. Layla, Lucky Fish and Kit + Lili all hail from Brooklyn. What is it about Brooklyn that seems to attract all the stylish, hip and talented designers!
Kit + Lili continue to create bold fun prints that turn the canvas tote into the must have bag for Summer fun. Outfit your little ones in the most adorable dresses from Kit + Lili.

My latest favorite designer Alayne Patrick, works with master craftsman in India to create her hand block-printed clothing line Layla. I love the simplicity and elegance of Layla, the former stylist has impeccable taste. Be sure to vist her jewel of a store located in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn.
We all seem to have endless amounts of t- shirts. But Jann the designer of the Lucky Fish t-shirts, really gets it right. Her images are African inspired and hand silk-screened in Brooklyn. I love them so much I think to date I have five of her wraps, I wear them everywhere.

Cheers! To all these lovely women in Brooklyn that continue to keep us all looking stylish. And the next time you are in New York City, please take a trip across the bridge to Brooklyn.

Jewelry is Always a Good Gift Choice
Published on 12/16/11 10:03AM by Mari PorcariThere's still time for the last minute extra-special gift, and what woman doesn't like jewelry in her Christmas stocking? Need suggestions? Cape Weekend can help.
She Bee - Ann Spence's collection of lapis, rose quartz, jasper, and arenturine necklaces - is an excellent choice. Don't be dissuaded by her signature skull beads, either, as they match elegantly with her sparkling beads. We have plenty to choose from in our Jewelry section, and you can find them here.
La Fiancee' du Mekong and loving all things French
Published on 04/23/10 05:27PM by Mari PorcariLa Fiancée’ du Mekong and loving all things French
It may be au revoir St. Maarten for now, but I have returned to loving and being inspired by all things French.
French music, French bakeries, and of course clothing and all the wonderful accessories from France.
After one week, much too short, of a relaxing vacation on St. Maarten in Anse Marcel, the lovely little remote cove on the French side of St. Maarten, I returned as a renewed Francophile. Thankfully, I can say my store is filled with some beautiful lines from France this season.
I’ve always admired the way French women dress so beautifully, and so effortlessly. They just throw on a scarf and look amazing. So this season I have lots of scarves to choose from, for all of us desperately trying to look oh so French! My favorites Epice scarves from France, which we have already sold out of several styles.
Our new kurtas and bags and scarves from La Fiancée’ du Mekong are fun, and easy to wear with beautiful patterns. And we are one of the few stores not only on Cape Cod but in the USA to carry this line.
And also new to Weekend Antik Batik, by French designer Gabriella Cortese. Embellished tops and bohemian kurtas, perfect to wear after a day at the beach.
Stop by and take a look at all the wonderful new lines and you are sure to walk away with something to spice up your wardrobe for Spring.
And if your heading towards Wellfleet this summer make sure to check out my new favorite French bakery, P B Boulangerie Bistro in Wellfleet. All I have to say is YUM ! xo mari

California Dreamin' and Kerry Cassill
Published on 03/18/10 01:56PM by Mari PorcariHello everyone, this is my first blog for Weekend. I will try to share the fun I have in searching out the most beautiful designs whether they be in clothing, jewelry, bags, toys, art, etc.... or even my favorite one dollar Japanese erasers! I am always meeting such wonderful and talented designers and would love to share my inspirations, travels and ideas with all of you. I'll try and keep it short and sometimes sweet!
Ever since I can remember I have had a fascination with California. So not a surprise that I ended up there and worked with my dear friend Laser in the film business. After lots of low and I do mean low budget films, I found my way back to Cape Cod and met my husband and we opened up Weekend.
I took my love of California and sunshine and opened up a laid back kind of a shop only a few miles away from the beautiful Nauset Beach. The first apparel show that I went to almost seven years ago was the Designers and Agents show in Los Angeles. That is where I found Kerry Cassill. A woman that truly embodies all that is wonderful about sunny California and Laguna Beach. Her indian print clothing line and bedding collection is still one of my favorite lines. I think I own about three of her personal quilts, my seven year old daughter adores them, and wraps herself up in them everynight. Every year when we are lucky enough to escape the dreary Cape Cod spring, I pack up my Kerry Cassill skirts and dresses and we set off to some Carribean island. Everything is as light as a feather, so you don't have to worry about that 50lb. baggage limit, trust me I have a husband that pays attention to the scale! If you can't get away put on one of Kerry's indian print dresses, wrap yourself up in a dreamy personal quilt and sip a mojito and do some California Dreamin'.

Two of my favorite gals, Maya and Jill wearing Kerry Cassill on Nauset Beach.
